Toni Braxton's "Secrets" Tour arrived in London on 12th September 1997 for what was to be her first ever performance in the city. Singing to a capacity crowd at Wembley Arena, Toni's silky tones won the crowd over and then some. Toni performed all the songs that have made her the household name and some of the best cuts from her two CDs which were just too good to not be performed. "Seven Whole Days" and "Come On Over Here" were great, as was the brilliant "How Could An Angel Break My Heart". The set was simple, and yet still classy. Hightlights of the night have to be "Let It Flow" which allowed us to see the never before released video for this song from the Whitney Houston Soundtrack "Waiting To Exhale". But the song that stole the night was an incredible performance of "Un-Break My Heart" which was dedicted to Diana, Princess Of Wales who was so tragically killed less than two weeks ago. In all my years of going to Wembley, I cannot remember an audience so overcome with emotions as this night and this song. Critical points? The band were Mint Condition, a US based band that's been around for some time and haven't really made it to any sigificant degree. They were the support as well as Toni's backing and I didnt feel they brought out the best of Toni's music as I would have liked. Toni's voice needed to project better in the Arena and sometimes it was as though she felt compelled to sing to herself or even talk to herself - making it quite hard at times to know what she was saying or singing. Those two points aside though as they didnt spoil the night(!), Toni looks likely to be a mainstay of the remainder of the decade. When she sings, she can really sing!
