The Price Is Right...

[Kelly Price's Comment About Whitney Houston In Her Vibe Interview]

Kelly Price Talks R&B

Kelly Price is currently riding high on the success of her sophomore album, Mirror Mirror, which features the hit singles "Love Sets You Free" and "As We Lay." Kelly recently talked to VIBE Online about working with one of her mentors, Aretha Franklin.

"I have written for her," said Price. "I've sung background for her on recordings on a couple of occasions. I'm not satisfied with that though, because for me, it would be best to actually be in the studio and work with her. And it not be a thing of where she's there and I'm not. I met her once at one of Clive Davis' pre-Grammy parties though, but it was very brief."

Price also expressed her feelings about working with Whitney Houston with whom she previously recorded with on the hit single, "Heartbreak Hotel." She said, "Working with Whitney was a lot of fun. It was a great experience to carry with me throughout the rest of my career. She gave me a lot of good advice."

Kelly transcends love through her music and touches her fans' hearts with Mirror Mirror. However, she claims that making R&B music wasn't her choice. "I don't feel that I chose R&B music," said Price. "I feel that R&B music chose me. It has given me a way to reach a much greater audience with my personal message of love for each other and self loveÉ There really was no concept for Mirror Mirror. I just kind of let what was in me pour out. She added, "I just kind of let what was in me pour out."

Kelly may also be hitting a big screen near you soon. "It's very possible that the Dreamgirl movie may be redone again," said Kelly. "If so, I'll be going out for that part just like I did two years ago." Mirror Mirror is currently ranked at # 16 on Soundscan. The next single from the album will be "You Should Have Told Me."
